Pentawards 2011: The winners are… – Packaging Digest

Pentawards is the world’s leading competition dedicated exclusively to packaging design. Its chairman Gerald Caron announced its winners for 2011. The prize winners received these global trophies in the surroundings of the Marriott Marquis on Time Square in New York. The bottles of Ramlosa mineral water won the Diamond Pentaward. The categories for Platinum Pentawards are beverages category, food category, body category, other market category and luxury category.

Mattel raises its green paper packaging standards – Reuters

Greenpeace activists protested against Mattel for using packaging from Indonesian forests. Mattel is the world’s largest toy company. Greenpeace has evidence that Barbie doll packing came from Indonesian rain forest. Due to this protest, Mattel will increase the amount of recycled and sustainable fiber used in its packing and products. Greenpeace appreciated Mattel’s efforts and wanted similar action from other companies also to protect rain forest.
